D-Day to Space Travel Among Evening Programs at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024
The centenary of the Royal Canadian Air Force, famed aviation designer Burt Rutan, and the future of spaceflight are all part of the schedule this July, as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 hosts its unforgettable evening programs at the Theater in the Woods. The Experimental Aircraft Association’s 71st Aviation Conference will be held July 22-28 at Whitman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
“After a full day on board Oshkosh Air, for more than 40 years Evenings in the Woods has been the place to hear from today’s aviation legends and innovators,” said Rick Larsen, vice president of communities and member programs at Education Above All, who coordinates the events. AirVenture Features and Attractions. “This year’s programming once again creates ‘only in Oshkosh’ moments with those involved in the history of aviation, cutting-edge technology, or the future of aviation.”
This year’s Theater in the Woods evening schedule includes (all events start at 7pm unless noted):
- Sunday 21 July: Traditional ‘An Evening with Champions’ pre-match show, with flying figures
- Monday 22 July: “Life, the Universe and Everything Else” with legendary designer Burt Rutan
- Tuesday 23 July: “Turning the Tide of World War II and the 80th Anniversary of D-Day” features Timeless Voices interviews with D-Day vets, plus personal commentary from those who keep historic aircraft flying
- Wednesday 24 July (Start at 6:30 p.m.): EAA WomenVenture, with female helicopter pilots participating
- Thursday 25 July: Royal Canadian Air Force Centenary with Canadian Forces Snowbirds, plus insights from those who fly, restore and display historic RCAF aircraft
- Friday 26 July: NASA and the next steps for space exploration, including the Artemis 2 mission to the moon
- Saturday 27 July (Start at 6:30 p.m.): USAF Materiel Command, highlighting what it takes to test aircraft and systems used on the front lines
All evening programs at Theater in the Woods are sponsored by M&M’S and included with regular AirVenture admission. Other special guests and highlights will be announced upon completion.
